Leggie Update

It is hard to believe that it has been 6 weeks since Houston's surgery. We have encountered a few bumps in the road lately, but nothing we can't handle. Last week, we noticed that Houston's stump was red especially around his last two scabs. We visited the doctor, and sure enough they were a little infected. So, Houston has been on antibiotics the past week, and the infection has cleared up. We have met with the prosthetics group. They are great, and we can't wait to start working with them!!!! We are just waiting on approval from the insurance company. Please pray that they approve it --- and quickly. We truly appreciate all of your love and support! We couldn't of made it through the past year without it. =)

Houston turns ONE in two days ---  can you believe it!

Flashback Friday

Since Houston's first birthday is next weekend, I thought that we would flashback to 1979 and our first birthdays.

Flashback Friday

My sister, Amber, is getting married on Saturday -- Valentine's Day. It is a tradition in our family. Our grandparents, Hugh and Myrth Houston, were married on February 14, 1951, and our parents, George and Shirley Houston, were married on February 14, 1974. Here are pictures of the happy couples. Happy Valentine's Day!

Flashback Friday

Flashback Friday

Everything on our blog has been so serious that I figured that it was time to lighten things up. I have noticed Flashback Fridays on other blogs and thought that it would be fun. For the sake of fairness, I will start with a picture from my younger days. You gotta love the perm!

Splish Splash Houston Can Finally Have a Bath

Houston had a follow-up appointment with Dr. Sawyer today. He got a great report again! Dr. Sawyer was going to have Houston wear a shrinker (a tight sock to reduce swelling) and start PT to help him extend his knee, but he doesn't need either of them! As soon we find the prosthetic group that we want to use, they can begin making the mold for his new leggie. He could be wearing it as soon as 6 weeks post-op. The most exciting news is that Houston can take a BATH!!! I am not sure which one of us was more excited. Houston hated sponge baths, and I hated the whining. Houston heard me start his bath water, and he headed straight for the bathroom. He had so much fun playing with his toys and splashing water everywhere. Here are a few pictures.
