Houston had continued improvement this afternoon, and is taking the oral meds nicely. The last IVs were removed a few hours ago. His appetite is improving - he did better with bottles and ate solids for the first time.
Last night, the doctors told us that if things went well today they would likely give us the option of leaving today or tomorrow. Given that Houston is doing so well and we are anxious to get home, we were heavily leaning towards a Thursday departure. Dr. Paidipalli and Dr. Sawyer's peers stopped by at the end of the day to check in on us and gave us the thumbs up to leave!
So, the nurses are processing our checkout papers as we speak.
We'll be home with Houston shortly.

I am so glad that y'all are able to go home already! Houston sounds like quite the little trooper. It's amazing how little ones do so much better than we do! If all is going well and you can take a break next week, we'd all love to see you at the DDD meeting. Of course we know you have your hands full right now. You are certainly in all of our thoughts and prayers. Take care and I will check with you soon.

Wow!!! That is amazing...I'm shocked at how quick they send patients home now, especially after a very major surgery! Houston is such a tough little guy! I'm so thrilled you'll all be able to rest tonight...still praying and thinking of you all! And I promise that SOMEDAY I will give you the book I still have for you!
